Brazilian Jiu Jitsu

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) is a dynamic martial art focused on ground fighting and submission techniques. At our academy, you’ll develop the skills to control and submit opponents in a supportive, challenging, and enjoyable environment—whether you're training for fitness, self-defence, or competition.

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Kids

Our youth programme runs three days a week and is split by age to give the right balance of focus and fun:

Kids (5 – 10 yrs) – sessions cover fundamental positions and movements; short skill-based games keep younger students engaged while they develop confidence, coordination and discipline.

Juniors & Teens (10 – 15 yrs) – the same core principles, but with more technical detail, controlled sparring and goal-setting to help older students build strength, resilience and a smooth path into the adult classes.

Whichever group they join, students receive consistent, progressive coaching that develops solid BJJ foundations, fitness and a positive training mindset from day one.

What is Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ)?

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a grappling-based martial art that focuses on ground fighting, submissions, and positional control. It’s designed to allow a smaller person to defend themselves against a larger opponent using technique, leverage, and timing.

Do I need to be fit or have experience to start BJJ?

Not at all. BJJ is for everyone, regardless of fitness level or experience. Our beginner classes are designed to help you build confidence, learn the fundamentals, and progress at your own pace.

What should I wear to my first class?

For your first class, wear comfortable athletic clothing with no zip or buttons. We also have spare loan Gis (uniforms) available for trial sessions. Once you decide to join, we’ll guide you on what gear to get.

Do you offer classes for kids and teens?

Yes, we run dedicated classes for younger students. Our Kids Class (ages 5–9) focuses on building coordination, discipline, and confidence through fun, structured games and beginner-friendly techniques. Our Teens Class (ages 10–15) introduces more advanced concepts while continuing to develop fitness, self-defence skills, and a strong work ethic in a positive team environment. Both groups train in a safe, supportive atmosphere with experienced coaches.

How many classes should I attend each week?

As a beginner, we recommend 2–3 classes per week to build a solid foundation. As you progress, you can train more often depending on your goals, whether for fitness, self-defence, or competition.

What’s the difference between Gi and No-Gi BJJ?

In Gi BJJ, you wear a kimono (gi), which allows for grip-based techniques. No-Gi BJJ is done in athletic wear like rash guards and shorts, focusing more on speed and body control. Both styles are taught at our academy.

Can I try a class before committing?

Absolutely. We offer a free trial class so you can experience the gym, meet the team, and see if BJJ is right for you—no pressure, no obligation. We don’t ask for any long-term commitments—there are no contracts or cancellation periods. You stay because you love it, not because you’re locked in.

What age can my child start training?

Children can start training from around age 5 and up. We group them by age and ability to ensure they learn in a safe, supportive environment.

How do I get started?

Simply contact us to schedule your first class. We’ll take care of the rest—from showing you around to introducing you to the team and explaining what to expect.
